Edinburgh is one of the leading centre of theatre and dance in Europe.
Edinburgh's theatres are home to many famous companies, and West End plays,

The Royal Lyceum Theatre Company is Edinburgh's leading theatre company. The
King's Theatre presents quality traditional drama as well as the city's annual

Edinburgh is a lively city all year around and is famous for its festivals and
wealth of arts, sporting, cultural and community events. The main annual event
in the city is Edinburgh International Festival held in mid-August or early
September and attracting around a million visitors. The festival was first held
in 1947 and over the years it has grown into the biggest art festival in the
world. The festival is essentially made up of several festivals, the main being
the International Festival featuring slick performances of music, dance and
drama. The other also very popular festivals are Edinburgh Military Tattoo,
the famous Fringe Festival and the smaller Book, Film and Jazz festivals.

Libraries.
A whole range of sizes and types, from big libraries with international reputations
to small, specialist information centres can be found in Edinburg. The National
Library of Scotland is the largest library in Scotland and its main building
is in the centre of Edinburg in George IV Bridge. The library receives a copy
of most books published in the UK.
