Arts and culture.
Brighton has a rich and dynamic cultural life and attracts many professional
performers and artists. The new Brighton Dome performing arts complex, the Theatre
Royal, the University of Brighton's Sallis Benney Theatre, the Gardner Arts
Centre and many smaller venues provide a wonderful diversity of live entertainment.
Brighton has three multi-screen cinemas as well as the Duke of York's and Cinemateque
which specialise in art house films. The city also boasts an impressive number
of museums and galleries. The highlight of Brighton's cultural year is the annual
Brighton Festival showcasing every kind of art and offering events all over
the city. The Brighton Festival is held in May.
